SAP PaPM Lead Consultant
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced SAP Architect – PaPM (Profitability and Performance Management) Lead Consultant to design, architect, and lead the implementation of SAP PaPM solutions for enterprise clients. This role combines deep technical SAP expertise with strategic architecture leadership, guiding profitability, costing, and performance management initiatives from design through deployment.
Salary: $120,000 - $135,000
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end architecture and design of SAP PaPM (Profitability and Performance Management) solutions, including data models, calculation logic, and integration architecture.
- Serve as the primary technical/functional lead on client engagements, translating business requirements (costing, allocations, profitability analysis) into scalable PaPM designs.
- Architect integration between PaPM and SAP S/4HANA, BW/4HANA, Group Reporting, and other finance/controlling modules.
- Define and oversee data modeling strategies, calculation views, and performance optimization within PaPM.
- Guide and mentor a team of SAP consultants and developers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct workshops with client stakeholders (Finance, Controlling, IT) to gather requirements and present architectural recommendations.
- Own solution design documentation, technical specifications, and best-practice standards.
- Support pre-sales activities, including solution scoping, effort estimation, and proposal development.
- Ensure quality assurance through design reviews, testing strategy, and go-live support.
- Stay current on SAP roadmap updates related to PaPM, Group Reporting, and Finance transformation.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of SAP consulting experience, with a minimum of 3–5 years hands-on with SAP PaPM (Profitability and Performance Management).
- Proven experience architecting and leading at least 2–3 full-cycle PaPM implementations.
- Strong background in SAP Finance/Controlling (FI/CO), profitability analysis (CO-PA), costing, or allocations.
- Experience integrating PaPM with S/4HANA and/or BW/4HANA environments.
- Hands-on expertise with PaPM Modeler, calculation rules, functions, and data actions.
- Solid understanding of HANA data modeling (CDS views, calculation views).
- Experience leading technical teams and managing client-facing architecture discussions.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, comfortable engaging with C-level and finance stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications
- SAP certification(s) in PaPM, S/4HANA Finance, or BW/4HANA.
- Experience with SAP Group Reporting, BPC, or other CPM/EPM tools.
- Familiarity with ABAP or scripting for custom PaPM logic.
- Prior experience in a Big 4 or top-tier SAP consulting firm.
- Industry experience in financial services, insurance, or manufacturing (adjust per client vertical).
