About the role

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join a high-performing Ad Data Platform and Ad Intelligence engineering team supporting large-scale advertising technology across streaming and digital platforms.

This team builds and maintains the data foundation that powers advertising capabilities across areas such as audience solutions, inventory forecasting, operational data, measurement, and optimization. The environment combines large-scale data engineering, distributed systems, cloud technologies, and machine learning to process and analyze significant volumes of advertising data.

The ideal candidate will have strong, recent hands-on Data Engineering experience, with particular expertise in building data pipelines, integrating multiple data sources, and working with large-scale data platforms. Strong SQL and Python skills are essential, along with experience working with PySpark and cloud-based data environments.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone comfortable working in fast-paced production environments where scalability, reliability, performance, and timely delivery are critical.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines supporting both batch and real-time data processing.
  • Develop and enhance components of large-scale data platforms handling high-volume datasets.
  • Integrate data from multiple source systems into enterprise data platforms, data lakes, and data warehouses.
  • Build and maintain data processing solutions using Python, SQL, PySpark, and related big data technologies.
  • Contribute to the development and long-term evolution of the Databricks-based data platform.
  • Design solutions that are scalable, highly available, reliable, and optimized for production environments.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and availability.
  • Participate throughout the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Apply software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, and design patterns.
  • Collaborate with Software Engineers, Product Managers, Program Managers, SDETs, researchers, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Clearly communicate technical decisions, problem-solving approaches, and engineering trade-offs.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional software engineering or data engineering experience.
  • Strong and recent hands-on Data Engineering experience.
  • Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining production-grade data pipelines.
  • Strong experience integrating data from multiple source systems.
  • Advanced SQL skills and a strong understanding of SQL fundamentals.
  • Strong programming experience with Python.
  • Hands-on experience with PySpark for large-scale data processing and pipeline development.
  • Experience working with large data warehouses and/or data lakes.
  • Experience working with large-scale or distributed data processing technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Flink, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Strong understanding of software/system design, application architecture, scalability, and availability.
  • Experience supporting production systems and troubleshooting issues in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to clearly articulate technical reasoning and solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks.
  • Experience processing very large datasets, including terabyte- or petabyte-scale environments.
  • Experience with AWS big data technologies.
  • Experience with streaming and real-time data processing.
  • Experience with technologies such as Kafka, Flink, SingleStore, NiFi, Kinesis, ClickHouse, Druid, Snowflake, Impala, or Presto.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployment technologies such as Kubernetes, Terraform, IAM, ALB, or Spinnaker.
  • Experience with Java and/or Scala in addition to Python.
  • Backend software engineering or microservices experience.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as Spring Boot, React.js, Vue.js, or Angular.
  • Experience working with advertising technology, streaming platforms, or large-scale consumer technology products is a plus.
